Origins
The origins of Vicentin date back to the year 1929, when in Avellaneda, in the north of the Santa Fe province, a family of pioneers with an extraordinary vision founded this company that is today in the vanguard of the oil and textile industry.
In the beginning, the firm only worked as a cotton store and a general store. Years later, in 1937, the first cotton gin was installed in Avellaneda and in 1943 the company started with the manufacture of vegetable oil and the industrialization of linen and cotton seeds, and peanuts.
But Vicentin's great take-off began in 1966 when the solvent extraction process was incorporated to the oil production. This innovation accelerated the growth of the company and enabled the construction of a second plant which started functioning in 1979 in
Ricardone, in the south of the Santa Fe province.
The great production volumes achieved made it possible for the company to operate in the international market. It was in this context when in 1987, the firm opened up its own
Shipping Terminal, located in San Lorenzo by the Parana river.
The 80s also meant the expansion in the cotton industry, with the construction and acquisition of new cotton gins in Avellaneda (Santa Fe ), Bandera (Santiago del Estero), El Colorado (Formosa), General Pinedo and Villa Angela (Chaco), all of which function under the name
Algodonera Avellaneda S.A.
With the starting of the San Lorenzo Plant, in 1997, Vicentin doubled its production reaching the figure of 10,000 tons per day.
During 1998, the company entered the extremely competitive Argentine domestic market thanks to the commercialization of its sunflower and olive
oils.
In February 2000, with the acquisition of a
cotton mill situated in the industrial area of Reconquista, Vicentin and Algodonera Avellaneda managed to merge and integrate thoroughly the process related to cotton, summarized in: storage, ginning, commercialization of the fiber, and the spinning of cotton.
Today the growth does not stop: the technological innovations which are permanently carried out, make Vicentin S.A.I.C. and Algodonera Avellaneda S.A be placed in the vanguard of both the national and international markets.
